Ikebana in ceramics from Kechene – what a challenge for ikebanists!

Kechene women’s pottery cooperative is a wonderful place in Addis Ababa. 30 women potters run this cooperative, doing their art and earning money for themselves and their families.

The entrance to the workshop.

They take out earth from a nearby river bed and make it into a workable clay following ancient procedure. This is hard work.

The objects made are sold in the shop.
